Executive Chef Jay Han was born and raised in South Korea. After working at the renowned Shilla Hotel post culinary school, he moved to Tokyo. While there, he worked during the day at the fish markets until night fall when he worked as a chef at Kyoda, voted one of Japan's best sushi restaurants.
In 2007, Chef Han moved to Toronto where he worked in some of the city's most popular Japanese restaurants. Now, he is the Executive Chef leading the team at Masaki, a group of culinary talents primarily from Korea and Japan.
The menu consists of a wide variety of soups, sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, and of course sake, a sparkling Japanese rice wine. Both traditional and trending flavour options are available throughout the menu. For those playing it safe, you are welcome to choose your courses yourself. However, for those looking for a bit more of a guided tour, we recommend trying the "Omakase" a meal consisting of dishes selected by Chef Han himself.
Described as a "true artist", Chef Han has designed an authentic dining experience at Masaki. Making it another pillar of culinary excellence offered in Niagara-on-the-Lake and a true marker of community diversity.
Masaki offers a small yet select list of both red and white local and imported wines for their patrons. Beers are also kept on a smaller scale, but do include local, imported, and craft options. The real show stopper pouring out of Masaki's bar is the wide variety of traditional Japanese sake. Starting with their house brand and transitioning into imported varieties ranging in aromas, sweetness, and body.View Full Beverages Menu
Masaki has a 15 seat semi-private dining area that is separated from the main restaurant which would be perfect for birthday or anniversary celebrations as well as small holiday parties.

Beautiful bright room, attentive friendly service and exquisitely presented food. We had the Chirashi Lunch which was out of this world. We declared it one of the best Japanese food experiences we had ever had after more than three decades of eating it all over the world. Cannot wait to return. OpenTable Review
The food was amazing, great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back again! Best sushi we have ever had! OpenTable Review
There was a much better than average selection of fish and the fish was melt in your mouth delicious. We had two special makis but I think the premium sushi is really what the restaurant excels at. My only complaint is that the food came quickly and we couldn't help but gobble it up as it was so good. We look forward to our next visit. I think we will sit at the sushi bar. OpenTable Review
Home made wasabi is just one of the amazing touches they do - sushi was fantastic - lots of staff for the size of the restaurant too so service was outstanding. Presentation of everything was a work of art. OpenTable Review
Masaki Sushi offers very creative Japanese cuisine that is served by exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. I enjoyed a number of sushi, sashimi, and maki roll selections that were high quality and artfully presented. I prefer Japanese cuisine over most all others, and Masaki is easily one of the best I've experienced. Be sure to try the chef special Masaki Roll, it's a standout roll. OpenTable Review
